The Handgun Roster: Additions and Appeals

Before handguns can go on sale to the public in Maryland, someone must submit a sample to the Handgun Roster Board to review. Provided the handgun is approved it is then added to the Handgun Roster and may then be sold to the public by FFL dealers in the state.

Handguns are evaluated for numerous criteria, including intended use, safety features, equivalence to a banned assault pistol (or lack thereof), and more. If the handgun is denied addition the roster, or added to the roster with a military or law enforcement restriction, the individual who submitted the sample is entitled to appeal that decision.

We are prepared to review the handgun and the Board’s determination, advise you on how to proceed, and represent your appeal before the Board.
